LED Lighting Overview

LED lighting technology represents the most advanced lighting technology currently available. LED lights use what is known as a semiconductor light source which creates light by running electricity through the LED. The electricity allows for electrons to recombine with the electron holes within the LED, which causes light to be emitted. Older forms of lighting technology required electricity to pass through a resistor, which then glows white hot, emitting light. In fluorescent lighting, electricity is passed through certain types of gases in order to emit light.  

Advantages of LED Lighting

LED lighting is the future of all lighting. It has a wide range of benefits that make it beneficial for signage, as well as many other uses:

• Low Energy Use: LEDs use only a fraction of the power the other lighting technology uses. This allows for money savings
• Colour Customization: LEDs are able to be manufactured in virtually every colour, allowing signage to match a company's logo and colours.
• Sizing: by default an LED is a very small device. A number of LEDs can be combined together to make a larger/brighter light. Because LEDs are so small by default they can be used in virtually every settings as they are never too big to fit where they might be needed.
